Our black satin PUFFA jacket fabric is 100% silk, along with the piped frosted-mint 100% silk taffeta sourced from Fabric Merchants in Kingsland, Auckland. Fabric Merchants sourced this fabric from the Como Region in Italy using sea freight to New Zealand (lower carbon emissions - yay!) This is a deadstock fabric, meaning it is either end-of-line, excess from a large scale designer, a mill overrun or a cancelled order. By using deadstock, we are able to use up already existing fabrics where they would otherwise have ended up in landfill, we are supporting New Zealand local businesses and we have an up-close and personal relationship with our suppliers and fabrications. These incredible silks are top of the line Italian silks which we don’t often have the opportunity to source here in New Zealand. Thanks to Richard, Jess and the team at Fabric Merchants for bringing these incredible fabrics to the table and for putting up with our indecisive design process!!!

Our Black PUFFA is then lined with a Cupro fabric from Frost Textiles in Sandringham, Auckland. Frost textiles have sourced this fabric from Japan. This Cupro is made from sustainable Cupro Bemberg yarn. Bemberg works to reduce their impact on the environment by implementing new ways to produce their Cupro, using less harmful chemicals and water during production. Read more about Bemberg here.

Frost Textiles have been a part of the PERA MAY journey from the start. They’re a wonderful, extremely helpful team from the office through to the warehouse crew, always catering to our fast-paced movements during sampling and production.
